Hotel Metropole, Venice, Italy
From few steps of Piazza San Marco, within easy reach of the most stylish shops, and close to the Art and Architectural Biennales in Venice the Hotel Metropole offering a seductive ambience, exclusive suites and elegant salons, a world of enchantment, an aura of mystery and exoticism, with period furniture, soft music, relaxing perfumes, a genuine concern for your comfort and well-being, a love for the most surprising collection of antiques piece of art and history.
Rooms and suites accommodation
The Metropole''s bright and spacious suites provide ideal accommodation for the discriminating guest, the hotel offering delightful views over the Venice lagoon and canal, the most rooms and suites offering a magnificent outlook over the island of San Giorgio, a picturesque view over the rooftops of the city, over the lush greenery of the hotel''s Metropole internal courtyard garden, or over the Pieta calle or canal (named after the famous Vivaldi church located next to the hotel), each room is extraordinary in its own way, and distinguished by the care that has been lavished on it, by its great individuality and exclusivity. The well-appointed bathrooms with good-sized windows are lined with Italian marble or luminous mosaic tiles made by Bisazza.
The suites, each one different from the other, with its own distinctive character, are decorated in the elegant style of a Venetian private palazzo: furnished with original antiques and numerous antiquarian objects from the Metropole''s own private collections, and the walls hung with precious silks and Venetian velvets.
To ensure that staying at the Metropole is a thoroughly pleasurable and relaxing experience, and to meet the diverse needs of our guests, the Metropole offers five types of room. Within this broad selection, what all 67 rooms have in common is their high level of comfort, their tasteful and original furnishings, a luxury that finds expression in a close attention to detail and in the considerate and discreet service we offer our guests.
All our accommodations - from the four ''Exclusive'' Suites, the hotel''s most prestigious rooms, favoured by various celebrities (the Contessa Marta Marzotto, Principe Carlo Giovanelli, art critic Achille Bonito Oliva and stars such as Lou Reed, Grace Jones and Annie Lennox), to our ''Classic'' double rooms - are furnished with original period pieces, from antique canopies to rare consoles, and ranging in style from Empire to Settecento, from Liberty to Art Deco. Some rooms come with elegant private terraces, where you can spend an unforgettable evening, enjoying a candlelit dinner served against the magical backdrop of Venice at sunset.
Restaurant and bar
The light-filled ''Salone degli Specchi'', warm and welcoming with its plush red velvets reflected in antique mirrors, offers a sweeping view of the Bacino of San Marco.
In this rich and opulent salon you are surrounded with an elegance that finds expression in countless precious details: constantly burning candles, 17th-century oil paintings, period furniture, and decorative arrangements of marble busts, corals and green mosses that are works of art in themselves. Tea-time brings aromatic delights with a selection of choice teas and infusions, lighted candles and the heady scent of incenses and of delicious homemade cakes and pastries.
At the Met Restaurant the pleasures to be had are not restricted to taste, but are designed to delight your visual and olfactory senses too, and make for an unforgettable experience.
The Met Restaurant is the only Michelin-starred hotel restaurant in Venice , and one of only two Michelin-starred restaurants in the whole city.
The atmosphere is intimate and sophisticated, the service attentive and discreet. Generous windows offer a scenic view of the island of San Giorgio, while wood panelling, elegantly designed Fortuny lamps, damask cushions, warm velvets, comfortable seating, mirrors in seventeenth-century gilt frames, an antique Indian coffer, 19th-century Thai armour displayed on the walls create a stylish and intriguing decor in perfect harmony with the creative cuisine of Corrado Fasolato. A genuine maestro, he reinterprets the Mediterranean and Veneto traditions, using the freshest of local produce and bringing to them imagination and artistry to work a successful alchemy combining the flavours and techniques of local cuisine with those of exotic Oriental cuisines. Unusual marriages and blends of colours, aromas and flavours attain a perfect equilibrium, the result a veritable feast to delight the senses.
Bar Zodiaco furnished with Oriental carpets, antique cushions, coloured silks, all types of candles that together with the fragrant incenses create a very suggestive Oriental ambiance.
